Mission of the project team in Senegal & Burkina Faso

From 31 May to 12 June, a delegation from the project team got to visit agri-food processing SMEs in Burkina Faso and Senegal. The aim was to study the bioenergy options to be set according to the different sectors and profiles of agri-food processing units.

BioStar attends the first edition of the International Agricultural Fair of the North (Diama Dam, Senegal)

From 4 to 6 June 2021, the F.I.A.N. hosted more than 60 exhibitors, actors of the Senegalese agricultural sector. During the 3 days of the fair, the BioStar stand was present alongside the "Maison France" and was able to introduce to the visitors the stakes and objectives of the project. It was the opportunity to have an important local showcase, supported by both ISRA and UGB, Senegalese partners of the project.

BioStar Internship

Welcome to Jeanne Bertrand who is joining BioWooEB in the frame of BioStar project, from 10 May to 18 June 2021. During this internship, she is in charge of characterizing the flow of different BioStar biomasses: groundnuts shells, shea, cashew, shea cakes, rice husks, shea slurry and mango pits. For each of the biomasses, the following data are calculated : - slip angle of the flow, - angle characterising the slope - variations in volume due to the settling of the biomass

Oumar Kata BADIANE, Youssou SARR and Rokhy, as interns at Isra for the BioStar project, are in charge of the survey SMEs processing in the groundnut, mango, cashew nut and rice sectors.

The three of them joined the project in March and April. During their internships, they will focus on surveying SMEs processing groundnut, mango, cashew nuts and rice in Senegal. This internship should contribute to better qualify and know the SMEs of the sectors, in connexion with the Result 1 of the BioStar Project.

The official kick-off meeting of BioStar project in Burkina Faso was a successful event!

On April 15, the official kick-off meeting of the BioStar project in Burkina Faso was held at the Joseph Ki-Zerbo University (Ouagadougou), under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

My name is ARAMIOU Karl (28 years old) and I come from New-caledonia. I am currently preparing a master degree in the fields of renewable energy with ICAM of Nantes. To achieve this formation, I am doing my 6 months internship in the BioWooEB laboratory. This internship occurs within the Biostar project.

Bienvenue aux deux premiers stagiaires de l’IRSAT !

Le projet BioStar vient d’accueillir deux stagiaires de l’Université Joseph Ki-ZERBO en Master Agrinovia - Innovation et Développement en milieu rural, pour travailler sur « la caractérisation technique et socio-économiques des PME agroalimentaires au Burkina Faso, élaboration d’une typologie et analyse des capacités à innover et pratique d’innovation ».

Au Burkina Faso, l'Institut 2IE accueille les véhicules du projet BioStar !

Le 29 janvier 2021, les deux véhicules du projet BioStar ont été remis à l’Institut 2iE à l'occasion d'une cérémonie officielle de remise des clés. Cette mise à disposition s'est déroulée en présence de Son Excellence le Ministre de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement (Ousmane NACRO), le Directeur Général de l’Institut 2iE (Professeur El Hadji Bamba DIAW) et le Directeur Régional adjoint du CIRAD pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest – zone sahélienne (Serge Marlet).
